Stephen Brown, Pastor
Pastor Stephen Brown grew up in a Christian home. His father was in the Air Force, so his family moved often. He graduated from High School in Tucson, Arizona, and then attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. There he met his wife. They graduated in 1975, were married and then returned to Tucson to work under the ministry of Dr. Louis Johnson and the Tucson Baptist Temple. They served there for over 21 years.
In 1996, Pastor Brown felt the Lord leading him to begin a new Independent Baptist Church in Salem, Oregon. In July of that year the Browns, along with their three daughters, packed up their belongings and moved to Oregon. The first service of the Salem Baptist Temple was on September 9, 1996 and they met in the Salem Heights Hall. The church was chartered on December 8, 1996 with over 20 members.
Since then the Lord has greatly blessed the Salem Baptist Temple. We have seen many saved and baptized. Our building is completely paid for and we are continuing to expand it. The Lord’s hand is on this work, and we would love for you to be a part of the Salem Baptist Temple family!
